Deep-tech companies face a specific set of hard problems.

These aren't general business problems. They're technical problems — and they require genuine technical expertise to diagnose and solve.

Material or process failures blocking your launch

Your team has hit a technical wall — a failure mode you can't diagnose, a material that won't behave, or a process that works in the lab but falls apart at scale.

Technical uncertainty slowing investor or customer confidence

Your technology is solid, but you can't translate what it does into terms your audience can evaluate. Technical risk is killing deals that should close.

Scale-up challenges eating your runway

Lab results don't reproduce at production scale. Yield is inconsistent. You're spending months on problems that feel like they should be solvable.

Meet Your Guide

Brandon Sweeney, Ph.D. — materials scientist, inventor, and deep-tech founder.

Brandon has spent 15+ years at the intersection of advanced materials research and commercial product development — from graphene electrodes at the Army Research Laboratory to co-founding a 3D printing startup that won the Rice Business Plan Competition, to building the materials portfolio that carried Essentium through a Series B and SPAC.

He understands what deep-tech problems actually look like at the bench, on the factory floor, and in the investor meeting — and he knows how to move between all three.

30+ patents in electromagnetic processing, composites, and advanced manufacturing

11 peer-reviewed publications across Carbon, Science Advances, Nano Letters, and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces

How It Works

A simple process for a complex problem.

Good consulting doesn't start with a solution. It starts with the right questions.

1

Schedule a Discovery Call

Tell us about your technical challenge. We'll ask the right questions to understand the problem accurately — before recommending anything.

2

Get a Scoped Engagement Plan

We define the work clearly: what we're solving, what we'll deliver, and what it will take. No ambiguous retainers, no open-ended scope.

3

Move Forward With Confidence

You get clear technical answers, actionable deliverables, and the kind of expert backing that turns your toughest technical question into your strongest asset.

Track Record

Recognized expertise. Proven results.

Sween Solve's consulting is grounded in a career of building and publishing real things — not just advising.

What Success Looks Like

The goal is always the same: move your company forward.

Every engagement is designed to produce clear, actionable outcomes — not just analysis.

1

Technical decisions you can defend

You have the analysis, the data, and the reasoning behind every recommendation — not just a conclusion.

2

A materials or process story that moves stakeholders

Investors and customers understand what you've built and why it works — in terms they can act on.

3

A scale-up plan that reflects production reality

Not what worked in the lab. What will work when your process meets commercial volumes and normal equipment variation.

4

Expert backing for your hardest technical questions

From patent defense to due diligence to grant applications — technical support that reflects the depth of the underlying work.
